JD Capital-invested Dowell Listed on ChiNext

Sichuan Dowell Science & Technology Inc. (Dowell, 300535), a JD Capital-invested enterprise, heard its listing bell today in Shenzhen Stock Exchange today – marking the company’s IPO on ChiNext.

Dowell is engaged in the R&D, manufacturing and marketing of leather chemicals. It is dedicated to building a self-owned brand of leather chemicals in China. The company provides solutions to meet various tanning demands and tailored leather chemicals for tanning enterprises.

As a player in the fine chemical engineering industry, Dowell owns 9 patents for invention and 29 patents for utility models, and has been recognized as a national “new high-tech enterprise”. The company has set up a “CAE Academician-Dowell Workstation” and a “National Engineering Lab for Clean Leather Technology-Dowell Research Institute”, and established manufacturing and R&D bases in Sichuan and Shanghai. It manufactures four categories (17 sub-categories, 200+ types) of products, including clean tanning materials, leather functional agents, finishing materials and colorants, covering the entire process of leather production. It is now one of China’s producers with the most complete product pipeline in leather chemicals.

Domestically, Dowell has established distribution channels covering all major leather manufacturing and processing bases in China. Meanwhile, the overseas expansion started to pay off with products sold to Southeast Asia and Europe. 

Fueled by economic development and technological advance, the word’s fine chemical engineering industry is at a mature stage. The technological innovation, product structure optimization and the strengthened industrialization in developing countries should further boost market demand for fine chemical engineering products. As a sub-sector, leather chemicals industry will also enter a fast track.

The fund run by JD Capital became shareholder of Dowell in 2010 and holds 4.91% of its shares before the IPO.
