Recently, Gaosi Education Group, China’s top-grade educational and training institution of primary and secondary schooling, received strategic investment from JD Capital. The capital will be used to further expand and improve its K12 (primary and secondary school education) training businesses. JD Capital will also cooperate with Gaosi to set up an education investment fund, so as to help Gaosi blueprint for a stronger K12 business sector domestically.

Cooperate with Gaosi to advance K12 education

Established in December, 2009, Gaosi Education now has over 600 teachers, 75% of whom work full-time. Among the full-time teachers, 95% are graduates of universities and colleges of “985” or “211” Projects, and over 200 graduate from Peking University or Tsinghua University, each with years of teaching experiences. Gaosi Education mainly engages in extra-curricular training for primary and secondary students through small-class teaching, one-on-one teaching and online teaching, etc. It is widely acknowledged among all training institutions. As a bellwether in K12 education, Gaosi registers a growth rate of over 100% for five consecutive years ever since its establishment. So far, over one million students nationwide have used the educational products developed by Gaosi.

Along with the development of its offline businesses, Gaosi has recently released Aixuexi, a B2B online educational platform specially designed to provide overall educational solutions and comprehensive education-related services to primary and secondary training schools. The services Aixuexi provides include whole sets of courseware, lesson preparation videos, class records, handouts and homework, etc., covering math, Chinese, physics and other major subjects.

In expanding institutions in other cities, instead of adopting the traditional method of setting up branches, it cooperates with local institutions by providing educational and researching products, so as to propel the development of local primary and secondary training institutions.

Build an all-round investment platform

At present, China’s K12 education and training market worth over 400 billion yuan, and the market capacity continues to grow. Roughly speaking, in 2014, the aggregate investment of the capital market in Internet education exceeded 4.4 billion yuan, most of which went to companies of early education, K12 education, vocational education, oversea studying services, online service platform, and other businesses alike.

JD Capital will continue to increase its education investment, with the focus on such market segments as early education, K12 education, and vocational education. Through its resource advantages and the cooperation with leading companies of various market segments, JD Capital will set up an all-round education investment platform.
